Hmm. Uhhhh, I wondered how I’d change his moves so it was less like Pit’s. Like a Ness and Lucas situation, y’know. Similar but not same.
Warning for long rambling and a wall of text!
I only really thought hard on the specials tbh.
Neutral Special: would still be the same, I guess. I was debating changing it to the Violet Palm, since that’s one of the weapons he finds and wields during his chapter, but decided that sticking to the normal special is easier.
Side Special: This one was a hard one, but I went with Gemini Orbitars. Dark Pit dashes backward while firing a straight shot towards his target. If it doesn’t hit the enemy immediately, it will break into two shots and home in on the enemy. The enemy can still dodge this, though, if they move fast enough.
I also debated using the Ogre Club! It’s a forward swing. Similar to the Ore Club item, it allows you to charge and fire huge wall-piercing shots that throw opponents. It also has high melee capabilities. It’s also the last weapon Dark Pit wields before the boss battle in his chapter, in the underground cavern.
I ALSO debated going for the EZ cannon for him to fire charged shots, but just decided on Ogre Club instead.
Up special: Will still be Power of Flight, but it will travel a shorter distance in exchange for also dealing damage! It’s one of his attacks in the boss battle with him at the top (using his flight to charge into Pit to deal damage.)
His down special is the one I wanted to change most, since I saw Guardian Orbitars as a mostly Pit weapon. But it was… challenging to find a suitable one to say the least, because guardian orbitars seemed like the most sensible option.
But I settled for the Midnight Palm instead. I did this because on Divinipedia, it mentioned that the Midnight Palm is a weapon geared towards defence, and since I kind of associate down specials with gimmicks and defence, i went with that.
Dark Pit backward dashes while also firing a giant moon shaped projectile, which nullifies incoming attacks and throws enemies back.
I also debated using the Virgo Palm, since its backward dash apparently produces a “useful defensive wall!” I didn’t know whether to choose Midnight or Virgo tbh, but I figured Midnight suited him better.
Now for the A attacks which i thought of:
Down A/Down tilt could be replaced with a drop kick (referencing his drop kick on the underworld guardian in chapter 8).
His pummel could feature the Violet Palm, also a weapon he wields when Pit finds the Cherubot to go beat him up. He’d grab the opponent and fire point blank at them repeatedly with the Violet Palm, energy bursts coming out.
For his final smash I know it definitely needed a remake, but i couldn’t think of one, help. I wanted to use his drop kick because i thought it was funny but decided against it.
Maybe instead of firing one singular shot, he could have his staff for a while while also gaining the ability to fly and aiming with a reticle like pits. I have no idea. I just wanna use his staff in his final smash since i found no way to use it in his other moves (unless you want him to whack his opponent with it like ness with his side a) and the staff is very important to him anyway.
ANYWAY THATS ALL!! i don’t know a lot about moves and data and all that so i think i might be wrong on many stuffs. comment if you have any suggestions or… comments.
