El Bloque verde (Metal Box en inglés) es un objeto que, al ser cogido por un jugador, otorga a éste más poder y más resistencia, pues hará que sea más difícil expulsarlo del escenario convirtiéndolo en un personaje de metal. Un personaje de metal pierde bastante velocidad al ser más pesado y le cuesta volver al escenario puesto que no salta tanto como otros personajes que no son de metal, cayendo más rápido al suelo, pero por contra resistirá más Ataques Smash. Podríamos decir entonces que es un arma de doble filo. En el modo aventura de Super Smash Bros. Melee y el clásico de Super Smash Bros, te enfrentas a Metal Mario, una versión metálica de Mario.

Your mass is exponentially greater while metallic, making it difficult for others to throw you. Be careful, though: not only will you move a bit slower, but you'll also fall much more quickly than you ordinarily would.
